With less than a week left until CyberBrokers Mint Day (Tuesday, March 1st), CB team members Josie, Ben, and Chris took a break from cranking code to answer some burning questions from the community on Discord. Future plans were discussed, a new character design was revealed, and things got spice-y. See what we did there? (P.S., if you didn’t, go read the CB lore!)
Here is a summary of the Q & As and audio recording for those who couldn’t make it. Note these questions and answers have been slightly modified for clarity and brevity. We did run a bit over schedule, but a huge thanks to everyone who participated and listened in! We’re hoping to have the next one shortly after launch.
Q: What is the roadmap for this project? Any specific future plans?
A: Roadmaps have a tendency to over promise and under deliver, which is why we have not yet published an official roadmap. There are so many exciting directions that CB can take, but what we can share now is that our team has a thirst for creating, and our number one priority is the brand. We are envisioning years of growth for CB, not just months, so we are focusing on ramping up and expanding the team. Right now, you are purchasing a CyberBroker - quality art with innovative tech that stores these 100% on-chain.
Q: Since the project is completely on-chain, will gas prices be higher?
A: Gas will likely be higher for us, but lower for you. The cost of the transfer of the mint is independent of the project being on-chain or off-chain.
Q: With the recent phishing attack, a lot of NFT groups have been discussing security management for NFTs/crypto in general. Can you touch on best practices for newer Web3 users?
A: Do not trust anyone on the internet!
Q: Can we see another new character design today?
A: Absolutely!
Rat - The inhalation of mind-altering chemicals was originally considered as a bridge to the metaverse. Chemically inducing a favorable alignment of synapses proved helpful in onboarding the very first lab rats to the TPL. However, the process was abandoned after failing for humans, and those first rats have since traversed the gateway into headier, more colorful fumes.
Q: Will gas be cheaper to mint more than 1 CyberBroker?
A: The cost per mint will be cheaper when minting 2+ CyberBrokers at a time vs. one, but the difference is negligible given the gas will not be that expensive.
Q: How large are you looking to expand the team?
A: There is no set number, but we are already in talks with some potential additions.
Q: Any collaborations lined up for this project that you are willing to share?
A: We do have some fun collabs in the works, but unfortunately cannot share much right now.
Q: Can you tell us a bit about different rarities? Are some classes more rare than others? Are there special 1/1 traits?
A: There are different rarities based on different talent types and traits. “Talent types” describes what they are or what they do, and “traits” can be thought of as jobs.
Q: Does the allowlist need to mint all of our allotted CyberBrokers at the same time, or can we mint some first and the rest later?
A: The guaranteed Mint List will have up to 48 hours to mint their CB. Minting begins on Tuesday, March 1st at 2:22PM CST and ends on March 3rd at 2:22PM CST. After that, any unminted CyberBrokers will be made available for the waitlist for 24 hours. Guaranteed minters may continue to mint their allocated CyberBrokers during this time but they will no longer be guaranteed.
Q: What is MirrorWare?
A: MirrorWare is a limited edition digital goods brand that is interoperable in metaverse experiences. In the future, it will create an enhanced layer for CBs. More on that when the time is right!
Q: Can you disclose your funding plans?
A: In lieu of fundraising, the funds raised from the CyberBroker sale will go back into the CB universe.
Q: Is the allowlist closed?
A: Yes.
Q: How do you plan to welcome newcomers to your project?
A: Our supporters are very important to us and this project. The guaranteed spots to the early newsletter and Discord members was very important. It was also important to let everyone enter for the raffle and almost all newcomers were selected. We are thankful for whales that participate, but wanted to make sure it was not just for whales and that new fans can come in as well.
Q: Can you speak to the IP Rights of CyberBroker owners?
A: We are excited about the very permissive license that CBs will have. Chris firmly believes that is one of the main reasons that The Loot Project, Bored Apes, and Forgotten Runes do well. CB will take the path of a super permissive license.
Q: Are there other species besides humans and monkeys?
A: Yes! The sneak peek talent was a rat, class founder. Same as Altair! You can read up on the CyberBroker lore and learn more about Altair starting here.
Q: What improvements to current on-chain contracts should we expect for CyberBrokers?
A: There are several innovations in the contracts. The first draft was in the fall of 2020. The contracts are heavily optimized, and these techniques are not used anywhere else. In regards to the on-chain svg - the way it is stored, rendered, and parched will be the first of its kind in many ways. There are new randomization elements, and they are all custom handcrafted. It will unlock a level of NFTs that have not been seen before.
Q: Are there marketing plans?
A: We wanted a wide, but intimate distribution for the CyberBrokers mint - a quiet project if you will. As we move forward, marketing will grow naturally.
Q: Can we expect a game in the future? Or perhaps characters from other games to enter CB as cameo characters or skin types?
A: We really like the idea of exploring all things involved in a game community but exist outside of a console. Back in 2020, Josie teamed up with Neon District to do a massive puzzle. It was an entire community game based around a painting. Those types of game mechanics don’t take 5 years, and we can do them in the short term.
Q What are your favorite talent types?
A: Chris: Cammer and Incumbents
Josie: Shaman and the Rat
Ben: Can’t possibly choose. :)
Q What happens if we don’t mint out?
A: The guaranteed Mint List will have up to 48 hours to mint their CB. Minting begins on Tuesday, March 1st at 2:22PM CST and ends on March 3rd at 2:22PM CST. After this time, any unminted CyberBrokers will be made available for the waitlist, containing 600 people, for 24 hours. Waitlist minting begins on March 3rd at 2:22PM CST and ends on March 4th at 2:22PM CST. (Note that guaranteed minters may continue to mint their allocated CyberBrokers during this time.) If there are any remaining CyberBrokers after March 4th at 2:22PM CST, they will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis to the entire allowlist.
Q: If there are CyberBrokers left on March 4th after the guaranteed Mint List an Waitlist have had their chance, is there a mint limit per wallet? (For first come, first served)
A: If we do not sell out after the Guaranteed Mint List and Waitlist have had their chance, and it is opened to everyone, the limit per transaction right now is 3. Currently, there is no limit per wallet. The mint per transaction allottment for those on the Guaranteed Mint List and Waitlist is reflected as a number next to their address on the lists here.
Q: Are some CyberBrokers reserved for the team, or team will be minting just like the rest of the community?
A: Yes, there are CBs reserved for the team, but the team will be minting at the end. A huge part of this mint is on-chain randomization picks out of a hat. Everytime someone mints, it is random. So, if you have 4 mints they will each be random and not in consecutive order. Basically, in the end, the team is left with what is in the hat.
Thanks again everyone for all of the great questions - and keep them coming! Share any questions you have that haven’t been answered yet in the “support-and-questions” channel on Discord, and we’ll work to shoot you an answer pronto.
